About the Project
A running photographic record of Canadian city life
premierpixo.org began as an informal habit of carrying a camera through everyday routines. It has grown into an ongoing, non-commercial archive of how people use and move through Canadian cities.
Our Approach
Watching, not directing
We treat the city as a subject in its own right. Rather than seeking dramatic or unusual moments, the project pays attention to ordinary ones: a queue at a bus stop, a market stall being set up, a street corner reshaped by new construction.
Photographs are organised loosely around place and season, and the archive grows slowly as contributors add new observations from their own cities.

What guides this project
Observation over staging
Every photograph is taken as it happens. We do not direct subjects or arrange scenes for the camera.
Respect for public life
We photograph in public spaces with care for the people who share them, favouring context over spectacle.
Continuity over time
The same corners, blocks and transit stops are revisited across seasons to trace how a place actually changes.
